Anderson Somerselle Returns as Co-Chair of Young Collectors Night at The Winter Show

Why I Said Yes to Co-Chairing This Year’s Young Collectors Night
When I was asked to return as Co-Chair for this year’s Young Collectors Night at The Winter Show, there wasn’t a moment of hesitation. Saying yes was easy. The event is one of those rare occasions that perfectly blends two passions of mine: a deep love for antiques and the opportunity to support a cause that truly changes lives.
Since being introduced to world of antiques by my dear friend Margaret Schwartz of Modern Antiquarian. Antiques now hold a special place in my heart. They’re not just decorative pieces—they’re tangible connections to the past. Each object tells a story, whether it’s the delicate brushstrokes on an 18th-century vase or the patina of a perfectly weathered table. Antiques are a testament to craftsmanship and history, and they have the unique ability to ground a space while adding personality and soul.
But my role as Co-Chair isn’t just about celebrating beautiful objects. It’s about championing the extraordinary work of East Side House Settlement , the Bronx-based nonprofit at the heart of The Winter Show. Through more than 42 programs, East Side House empowers over 20,000 families each year by providing access to education, career support, and other transformative services. It’s a mission that resonates deeply with me, and being able to contribute to their efforts is truly an honor.

What Can Guests Expect This Year?
This year, we’re taking Young Collectors Night to a whole new level with a theme that’s as chic as it is imaginative: Blue Grotto Chic . Inspired by the luminous caves of Capri, the theme invites guests to embrace the mystery and allure of the Mediterranean. Think deep, shimmering blues, oceanic textures, and an air of effortless sophistication.
For those wondering what to wear, “Blue Grotto Chic” is your cue to dive into bold, glamorous style. Consider navy velvets, sleek white linen suits, flowing dresses with metallic accents, or even statement jewelry that nods to the sea. It’s about capturing the spirit of a Mediterranean escape while staying true to your personal style.

Celebrating This Year’s Honorees
One of the highlights of the evening is honoring two exceptional individuals: Adam Charlap Hyman and Adam Eli . Adam Charlap Hyman, co-founder of Charlap Hyman & Herrero , is renowned for his ability to blur the lines between architecture, art, and interiors. His work is imaginative, thoughtful, and rooted in storytelling, often bridging history and modernity in ways that feel fresh and unexpected.
His partner, Adam Eli, brings a completely different but equally inspiring energy to the table. As a writer and LGBTQ+ activist, he’s an outspoken advocate for intersectionality and social justice, using his platform to inspire positive change. Together, they represent a beautiful harmony of creativity, vision, and purpose—qualities that align perfectly with the spirit of Young Collectors Night.

Why This Event Matters
Young Collectors Night is more than a celebration of art and antiques; it’s a platform for inspiring the next generation of collectors. Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or just dipping your toes into the world of collecting, this event shows that history and design are anything but outdated—they’re dynamic, relevant, and endlessly inspiring.
Most importantly, the evening is a chance to make an impact. Every ticket purchased and every donation supports East Side House Settlement’s vital work. It’s a powerful reminder of how design, community, and philanthropy can come together to create something truly meaningful.
